You Are My Sunshine

When I was little, my Mom would sing to me "You are my Sunshine". Therefore, I'm a little biased when it comes to my love for this typography wall art.

I hope everyone has a little sunshine today.

Keeping it Very Simple

I've been trying to find a new recipe to try. I've searched here, here, and here. However, I couldn't get simple Rice Krispies Treats out of my head. I thought, let's go crazy and put chocolate on them. All in all, a successful baking day.

Here's to a sweet and simple Monday!

Successful Saturday

I've turned into that girl (oh wait, woman) who looks forward to Saturday's. Not just Saturday nights, but the daytime, the me-time. This successful Saturday was made possible by...

1. Clementines: It's like Christmas morning, unwrapping a sweet clementine.

2. Top Chef All-Stars: A morning full of catching up and crushing on Tom Colicchio

3. Ann Taylor Midnight Floral Silk Pencil Skirt: A silk, not black, skirt, that I love? Sold!

4. Friend of a Farmer: Lunch break? I can't resist a friend of a farmer.

5. Bath & Body Works Figural Candle: I've been looking for something like this forever. Yay!

6. Yoga to the People: As I mentioned here, a Saturday must.

Here's to a great Sunday for everyone!

Yoga to the People

Yoga can be pretty intense. It can also be fun, relaxing and the missing ingredient to an ideal Saturday afternoon. My friend Mieke introduced me to Yoga to the People, which is a donation based yoga studio in NYC (among other locations) instructing power vinyasa and traditional hot yoga. It's my Saturday must do.

As you Wish

With the Oscar's this weekend, my mind is in movie mode. How perfect is this print? What he really meant was "I love you", cause anything else is inconceivable.

Have a great weekend!

1940's Design

I'm slightly obsessed with the clothing from the 1940's. There is something so classy and romantic about it.

Doesn't this make you want to buy white gloves and carry a clutch purse?

This makes me think of summer.

If I was wearing this, I would always walk backwards.

This just looks fun.

A place and a purpose dress.

And just like that, the perfect kitchen dress.

Restaurant Week - NYC

It's still Restaurant Week here in NYC and my friend and I are going to check out Club A Steakhouse. It's a short walk from work and a great way to close a Thursday.

I hope everyone has a great night!

N&R = Tru Luv

Politics aside, I will always love this couple.

Canelé

I'm going to be honest, up until I moved to NYC, I had no idea what a canelé was. Now, I'm obsessed with finding the best one. The City Sweet Tooth provides some great leads (Burdick and The Petrossian New York Boutique) but I think to best understand the beauty of the canelé, a trip to Paris is essential. Right? Or am I being excessive?

Blowing in the Wind

Maybe I have spring fever or maybe I'm longing for my youth. Regardless, I love this wall decal. You can buy one for yourself here.

Kitchen Dreams

A little bit of lusting going on for this kitchen.

Boutiques

Launched in Fall 2010 by Google, Boutiques understands various patterns, pairings, and genre definitions (trend analytics) to suggest brands, clothes, and styles. I lost several hours of my life to this website, but it was worth it.

You can use the Stylyzer to find yourself (hypothetically).

You could be a Classic

Or Country Casual Chic {Is this really a genre?}

Am I the only one who thinks Google should develop this for types of men you should date? Manlyzer, maybe?

Adele: 21

I have been waiting for this CD to release in the U.S since Rolling in the Deep dropped on the singles chart. Finally, February, 22nd has arrived and I'm ready with my heart on my sleeve and red wine in the hand.

The Cowboy of the Dakotas

Theodore Roosevelt was known as the "The Cowboy of the Dakotas", when he ran for mayor of NYC, in 1886. He came in 3rd. I love that fact.

When I was walking around my neighborhood this weekend, I stumbled across Theodore Roosevelt's Birthplace Home and found out they have hourly tours. {I love tours!}

{photo via NPS}

I plan to go back next weekend and check it out. It must be "The Cowgirl of the Dakotas" in me.

I hope this finds everyone well. I'm seriously looking forward to the weekend already.

Free Day

I love free days. President's Day provided me with a no-work Monday and I couldn't of been more yes-yes.

I woke up to snow covered trees.

Came upon a jam session in Union Square.

Almost bought this chair at a vintage store.

And everything on this table...

Found a cute blouse and skirt at Anthropologie.

And even found Love on the NYC streets.

One of my all-time favorite quotes.

Jalapeno Margarita

My friend Kacey recently introduced me to the beauty of the Jalapeno Margarita. During a girls night out, we stopped at Poco (East Village) for a drink and she up and orders a Jalapeno Margarita. A what?

One sip, and I was hooked. To celebrate President's Day, I made my own Jalapeno Margarita and used this recipe. I think George Washington would approve.

I hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

Dad Birthday Gift Guide

My Dad's birthday is coming up and I always struggle to find the perfect gift. Here are a few ideas I'm thinking about for my favorite retired farmer.

Deer & Moose Shot Glass I actually kind of want these for myself!

Cabela's Rocking Director's Chair This is taking sitting by the campfire to another level.

The Red Dress

I snapped this pic on 17th Street today. Right then and there, I had an "I love NYC" moment.

SPiN - NYC Style

When I think of table tennis (ping-pong, whatever), I think of my childhood playing in the game room at Holiday Inn. I was never very good. I was always more interested in the Doritos and cable television that were in the hotel room (both we didn't have on the farm).

Now, grown-up, SPiN New York (located in the Flatiron neighborhood) is pretty awesome. My brother Jared was in town on Thursday and we decided to reserve a table and collect on the current Daily Candy NYC deal that included a table for 2 hours and 2 carafas of margarits. We had a blast. The music, the drinks, the game and the company made a memorable NYC night.

Umm. Margaritas.

Game on.

I love this pic and couldn't help but relate to the girl.

Broadway of the Great White North

Fargo, North Dakota is pretty cool. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Even NYC Broadway composer Andrew Lippa thinks so (of Broadway's The Addams Family fame with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.)

You can find an article on his study abroad (tongue-in-cheek) here. I love how he says, "I thought, I need to go away, somewhere far away from New York."

I can't think of a better choice! Thank you to my sister Staci (a Fargo resident) for bringing this to my attention.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather in NYC. Personally, I skipped to work today.

Five (+ 1) Drugstore Winter Beauty Loves

I'm not going to lie, I spend a lot of money on beauty products- walking through Sephora is like Willy Wondka in his chocolate factory for me. However, during the winter, I find myself not being able to live without these simple beauty products that I pick up at my local CVS.

1. Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream $18.99
This is great during the winter months; during the summer, I tend to use a lighter cream.

2. Bio Oil $8
Use this. It's completely universal and economical.

3. Aveno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer $16.99
I'm a true Aveeno fan and during the winter months when I feel pasty and gross, this gives my skin a nice glow in the morning.

4. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream 2.0 $3.99
Hands down the best hand cream.

5. Carmex $2.00
I'm always buying different chapsticks and lip glosses, but there is only one thing that remains the same. Carmex.

6. TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo $4.99
I just purchased this product last weekend, but so far, it seems like a great quick fix.

Best,

Brie Sandwich(es) on a Kick

I get into kicks of what I will eat. I have the same thing for breakfast everyday, for months, and then all of sudden not eat it again for years. Recently, my kick for lunch, has been Pret A Manger's Brie, Tomato, and Basil Baguette.

{photo via Tomato Lover}

Which is why I got a little excited when I found this slightly replicable brie sandwich here. It looks so good!

I love buying baguettes! You get to walk home with them sticking out of your bags like in the movies.
